More than 800 meetings sealed the logistical pact between Punta Arenas and the British colony of the Malvina Islands.

The "Punta Arenas - Islands Business Meeting" concluded this Tuesday with a total of 822 bilateral business meetings, consolidating the largest logistical, commercial and port integration in recent decades between the South American continent and the British occupation of the Malvina Islands.

The meeting brought together about 120 people belonging to 60 Magallanes firms and 32 companies and entities from the colonial occupation.

The final tally of the business summit held at the Cabo de Hornos Hotel in Punta Arenas yielded figures that refute any attempt by Argentine diplomacy to downplay the event as a mere informal meeting or a municipal dispute . As confirmed yesterday by Radio Polar , the so-called "Punta Arenas-Islands Business Meeting" concluded this Tuesday with 822 bilateral business meetings , solidifying the strongest logistical, commercial, and port cooperation in recent decades between the South American continent and the British occupation of the Malvina Islands.

The initiative, spearheaded by the Municipality of Punta Arenas in direct partnership with Easter Island Shipping Company , far exceeded initial expectations. It brought together approximately 120 people from 60 Magallanes-based companies and a large delegation of 42 representatives from 32 companies and organizations with ties to the colonial era.

Radonich's confession and the "spillover" argument

In assessing the closing figures, the mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich , openly celebrated the volume achieved and again justified the aid to the enclave under the logic of capturing the revenue that until now had been concentrated in the port of Montevideo:

"Very successful. When we started with this project, there were 15 companies from the Malvina Islands; we estimated around 30, but in the end, there were 32 from the Malvina Islands and 60 from our city. This already speaks to an interest that exceeds expectations. (...) What we are seeking is a trade route that is currently used in a Mercosur country, 100 kilometers from Buenos Aires, which is Montevideo. What we are doing is ensuring that this money stays with the residents of Magallanes, of this southern part of the world, because this generates employment , " celebrated the mayor.

Radonich 's reasoning starkly exposes the emptiness of regional politics: under the cover of the historical inaction of the Argentine Foreign Ministry in the face of the usurpation that Uruguay has been making for years with the services and logistics to the fleet in the South Atlantic, the Magallanes leadership assumes the task of building an even closer and cheaper beachhead for the usurpation.

The enthusiasm of the colony and the maritime agencies

From the delegation sent by the colonial government, assessments revealed British relief at the opening of the new bi-oceanic corridor. Louise Ellis , deputy director of the Malvina Islands Development Corporation (FIDC) , described the closure as "truly fantastic" and stated that "we couldn't have imagined, when we first started looking into this, how much enthusiasm there would be on both sides... The islanders are very keen to do business with Punta Arenas, and Punta Arenas is very keen to do business with the islands."

The veteran colonial lobbyist Mike Summers , director of the islands' Chamber of Commerce, echoed this sentiment: "It's been a good couple of days; we're on a journey to connect the past with the future. We've worked with Punta Arenas and Magallanes for many decades; it's been interrupted recently, but we look forward to working again with old and new friends."

For his part, the general manager of Easter Island Shipping Company, Pablo Pacheco, confirmed that the objective of connecting Chilean suppliers with the demand of the colony was fully met, laying the operational groundwork for the monthly maritime service that will link Magallanes with Puerto Argentino starting at the end of 2026. Adding to this framework was the voice of local port operators; among them, Fernando Quijada, representative of SSL Maritime Agency , who celebrated the restoration of a connection that "the region and the islanders had been waiting for for a very long time."

Quirno's fiction versus accomplished facts

The 822 business meetings held in Punta Arenas' meeting rooms completely undermine the lukewarm statements made by Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno on Tuesday at noon, when he said that the Foreign Ministry was "monitoring" the situation, distanced the government of José Antonio Kast from it, and reduced the conflict to a simple "matter for the mayor."

The reality on the ground proves otherwise:

1.   State Infrastructure: The movement of Chilean-flagged ships, the operation of port terminals, customs inspections, and the control of waters in the Strait of Magellan are not within the powers of a municipality; they depend on the Navy and the central government of Chile.

2.   Political endorsement from La Moneda: The Chilean Executive has already established its position through the Undersecretary of the Interior, Máximo Pavez , the Foreign Minister Francisco Pérez Mackenna and the Minister of Defense, Fernando Barros Tocornal , validating that Chilean corporations have the right to trade freely from their ports, while describing the Mercosur agreements as merely "political and not binding" commitments.

3.   The oil logistics corridor: Connecting Magallanes with the Malvinas in two and a half days of navigation to transport liquefied gas, cement, machinery and provisions means directly reducing the costs of maintaining the occupation and building the rear guard for the Sea Lion oil field.

It's time to enforce Argentine laws

The time for perfunctory declarations and pleas for diplomatic "good faith" is over. The formal letter with which CECIM La Plata formally notified Foreign Minister Quirno imposes upon him the unavoidable legal obligation to implement Decree 868/2026 and apply the disqualifications and penalties of Law 26.659 against the shipping company Easter Island, SSL Agencia Marítima, the FIDC, and each of the 60 supplier firms identified at the summit.

At the same time, the Naval Prefecture and the Southern Naval Area have the express mandate under Decree PEN 256/2010 to prevent any vessel providing logistical assistance to the usurped territory from crossing waters under Argentine jurisdiction.

With over 800 closed-door meetings held behind the backs of national sovereignty, the corridor of plunder is formally established. If Argentina does not act immediately, using the full force of its criminal and naval laws against the actors identified in this pact, it will be tacitly endorsing the consolidation of the Anglo-Chilean logistical bridge in the heart of our seas.
