Sponsored by the Municipality of Punta Arenas, the first "Punta Arenas - The Islands Business Meeting" began yesterday, in collaboration with the Easter Island Shipping Company.

The possibility of creating a logistics and trade corridor between Magallanes and the Malvina Islands began yesterday at the opening of a business meeting in Punta Arenas and will advance this Tuesday, September 29, with a second day at the Cabo de Hornos Hotel; where the names of the corporate actors involved were revealed.

Reports published by the regional press across the Andes—both Radio Polar and La Prensa Austral —confirmed the outcome of the two-day event known as the first "Punta Arenas-Islands Business Meeting." More than fifty Magallanes-based companies and 28 corporations and entities from the colonial period finalized agreements for the supply of food, heavy construction materials, and technical spare parts, with the goal of inaugurating the monthly maritime route operated by the Chilean shipping company Easter Island by the end of the year.

The conclave is not an abstract exploration. The publication of the list of Magellanic companies exposes the commercial network that is preparing its warehouses to supply the British enclave, in open contradiction with the regional consensus against assisting the usurper.

The identified businesses: Food, hardware, and naval services

According to a survey published by La Prensa Austral , a total of 53 companies from the Magallanes region formally participated in the negotiation sessions with the British delegation. The schedule divided the activity into two stages: Monday's session focused on the food and hardware sectors, and Tuesday's session dedicated to the construction sector.

Among the Chilean companies identified as seeking to become direct suppliers to the colony are some of the region's leading firms:

Sebastián Prado, manager of Bolt Hardware Store , openly celebrated the municipal initiative, telling local media: "I want to thank the municipality and Mayor Claudio Radonich for this first business meeting with the islands. The truth is, we are quite optimistic (...) We hope it will be a day full of good contacts and business opportunities."

"The large supermarket and the large home center": The role of the mayor's office

The mayor of Punta Arenas , Claudio Radonich , once again publicly defended the business. In statements reported by local media, the mayor described the logistical role his city will assume at the expense of the route through Montevideo:

"We're going to be like the big supermarket, the big home center for the island's inhabitants (...) If a family wants to expand their house or enlarge their bathroom, they can buy those items in Punta Arenas; it would be much cheaper than bringing them from Uruguay , " Radonich stated, detailing the demand for cement, wood, frozen foods, groceries, and auto parts.

The mayor's statements expose the subordination of state commitments to municipal profitability: to reduce the cost of housing expansions or basic supplies for the British colonial population, the Magallanes mayor's office assumes the task of building a supply hub that, in fact, acts as the indispensable rearguard to reduce the general operating costs of the usurpation and its offshore projects.

The fleet, the frequency, and the British emissaries

The general manager of the Easter Island shipping company, Pablo Pacheco , provided details about the nautical scheme:

On the British side, the mission was led by top officials from the Malvina Islands Development Corporation (FIDC): Deputy Managing Director Louise Ellis , Strategic Projects Manager Sam Cockwell , and Communications Officer Jane Clarke . They were joined by the senior management of the islands' Chamber of Commerce , headed by its director, Mike Summers , a former member of the colonial legislative assembly.

Ellis described the start of the contracts as an "extremely exciting" event for "reconnecting communities," while Summers praised the rebuilding of historical ties.

The list on the Foreign Ministry's table

The public disclosure of the 53 Magallanes-based companies and the Easter Island shipping company eliminates any ambiguity. The Malvinas Islands Ex-Combatants Center (CECIM La Plata) has already formally notified Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno, via certified letter, to enforce the powers granted by Decree 868/2026 and apply the disqualifications and criminal penalties stipulated in Law 26.659 .

This Argentine legislation punishes not only direct illegal exploration, but also any act of assistance, provision, transport, and logistics that benefits entities in the disputed area. At the same time, Decree PEN 256/2010 mandates prior authorization for any vessel intending to cross Argentine territorial waters en route to the Malvina Islands.

While price lists and purchase orders for cement, food, and liquefied gas were being signed at the Cabo de Hornos Hotel, the names of the companies and naval operators have been formally exposed: Argentine law and sovereign defense in the South Atlantic require that each link in that supply chain face the legal consequences of cooperating with the colonial power.
