The aircraft , designated as “ number 25 ” of the F-16 program , is transported from Denmark aboard the C-130H TC-66 Hercules , known as the “ South Pole ,” of the 1st Air Brigade of El Palomar.
This is the first F-16B Block 10 fighter of the Argentine Air Force that is already en route to the country, according to official sources from the Ministry of Defense.
The operation was launched on November 29 , when the Hercules left for Denmark to pick up the fighter . This F-16 , which is not in flying condition , will be used for pilot training at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil .
Since late October , an Argentine team was in Aalborg , where the Royal Danish Air Force's Defence Maintenance Service is located, preparing the transport of the fighter-bomber.
Initial activities carried out by the Argentine and Danish personnel included the identification and cataloging of the goods to be transported , as stipulated in the purchase contract dated April 16. In addition, packing tasks were carried out and the necessary documents were prepared for the importation of these supplies to Argentina.
On December 1, the Hercules arrived in Aalborg and completed preparations for the transport of the F-16B components. Later, on December 3, a new stage in the mission was marked when it was confirmed that the aircraft took off for Argentina , carrying with it the fighter's engine and other components whose identification was not revealed.
In the coming days, another KC-130H Hercules of the Argentine Air Force will join this operation to complete the transport of the 25th F-16 cell. These components will then be sent to the country by sea.
Once all the components arrive in Argentina, the aircraft is expected to be assembled at the VI Air Brigade , with technical support from Danish Air Force personnel .
