This Friday, April 25, the Desde la Raíz Multimedia Network will host the event "From the Malvinas to the National Project," a meeting to reflect on the Malvinas and Antarctica from a national perspective, framed within a national project. It will take place starting at 5:00 PM at the Malvinas Islands Cultural and Memorial Center on 19th and 51st Streets in La Plata.
The idea is to provide fresh perspectives, data, and information on what's happening in the South Atlantic islands and the White Continent, while also considering their current situation, given that the current government's policies are defunding research projects and abandoning historical claims of sovereignty in international organizations.
Likewise, the film "Petrel" will be screened, an Antarctic film by Juan Terranova , made from his experience at the Joint Antarctic Base Petrel , which he visited during the 2023 Antarctic campaign. And it will be attended by its director.
This will be followed by a discussion with Juan Rattenbach , Attorney and Content Advisor for the Malvinas and South Atlantic Islands Museum; David Pizarro , Bachelor and Professor of History, with a Diploma in Antarctic Law; and members of CECIM La Plata . They will discuss the current sovereign claim to the Malvinas Islands and the challenges Argentina faces in building a national project.
Admission is free, starting at 5 p.m. at the Islas Malvinas Cultural and Memorial Center (19th and 51st Streets), La Plata.
