Vice President Victoria Villarruel participated in the main event for April 2nd in Ushuaia. In her speech, she reiterated the need for the construction of an Antarctic Logistics Hub with U.S. military participation.
Although the US government denied at the time to Argentine President Javier Milei regarding a supposed project between the two nations to establish a joint Integrated Naval Base, Villarruel again mentioned the issue and ratified the existence of the initiative , announced in April 2024 .
Furthermore, he confessed that the idea of an integrated base with US support was "promoted" by the world power. It's clear, then, that the US imposes and Argentina accepts.
On that occasion , Milei did not participate in or send any officials to the events commemorating the anniversary of the war , but he did receive Laura Richardson, military chief of the United States Southern Command, in the capital of Tierra del Fuego . The Argentine president traveled to Ushuaia at midnight to meet with Richardson on April 4th , and returned to Buenos Aires without having spoken with any authority from the state of Tierra del Fuego.
It is worth noting that the US is Great Britain's main political-military ally , to the point of permanently carrying out war exercises in the Malvina Islands in recent years , with a US nuclear submarine even operating alongside the British usurpers in 2021.
Now, in his speech at the ceremony for those killed in the South Atlantic, Villarruel reaffirmed the president's intention to establish a Logistics Hub with U.S. assistance . The Tierra del Fuego government, for its part, has already expressed its opposition , given the existence of another national project that has existed for decades.
" The security of the South Atlantic cannot be left in the hands of an extracontinental power," referring to the British usurpers. "The challenge presented here demands agreements among the countries of our continent, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, to establish hemispheric defense policies ," the vice president said.
“ A year ago, we received a visit from the then head of the United States Southern Command, General Laura Richardson ,” Villarruel noted. “At an event where the Malvinas March was sung, the intention to strengthen Argentina's presence by building an integrated naval base that would also serve as an Antarctic Logistics Hub was announced.”
" This construction was promoted and would have the collaboration of the United States, making Argentina the gateway to the white continent. It was then recognized that Argentina is a bicontinental country ," the official said.
