Chilean armed forces conduct military exercises with the Gurkha Rifles of the British invaders

The high-powered weapons exercises were carried out by the Lautaro Special Operations Brigade. They demonstrate the military relationship between Chileans and the British invaders, with historical links to human rights violations and collaboration with colonialism in the South Atlantic.

Chilean troops were trained in the use of weapons such as the IWI Galil ACE and the Barrett M82.

The Chilean Army continues to strengthen ties with the usurpers of the Malvinas Islands . It is the continuation of an “ Anglophilia ” that is presented as a clear alliance against the interests of Argentina in its claim of sovereignty over the South Atlantic . A relationship of carnal-military politics that is also opposed to the projects of the South American nations , taking into account that, with this kind of frequent military exercises , the Chileans help to strengthen the presence, information and logistics of British imperialism in an area of high geopolitical significance.

In another clear display of power and entry into South American territory , the Royal Gurkha Rifles of the British Army and the Chilean Army carried out shooting practice and weapons demonstrations at the Lautaro Special Operations Brigade.

They trained with rifles such as the IWI Galil ACE and the Barrett M82 , which were also used by soldiers of the Special Mountain Group during training movements.

This activity not only projects the symbolic, pragmatic and reprehensible fact of having the imperialist power detonating heavy weapons in the neighbouring country , but also has a disastrous historical tone. The British invaders , in their role as allies of the Chilean dictatorship , ignored, for example, the arrest warrant against Augusto Pinochet issued by the Spanish magistrate Baltasar Garzón , who tried to judge the crimes against humanity of the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile .

Another front that this relationship between Chile and the Anglo-Saxon pirates has, refers to Antarctica , converted into a vast laboratory of military cooperation , where Chile and British imperialism join forces and share strategic interests.

This link remains in force due to various factors , despite Argentina's claims of sovereignty over the South Atlantic , and the enthusiasm shown by Chile to collaborate with the usurpers of the Malvinas Islands suggests a clear complicity .

It is essential to question how these types of exchanges reinforce a dependence on Anglo-Saxon models for defense , downplaying the construction of national sovereignty and the autonomy of the Chilean armed forces , which should focus more on the defense of their own territories and less on activities that seem like simple sponsorship by an old empire .

Chile , which has had its own history of human rights violations and dictatorships , should not forget the role that Great Britain played in that dark period . History teaches us that alliances must be built on solid foundations that prioritize justice and equity , and not on complicities that perpetuate colonialism .

The Chilean population and its leaders must reflect on this “Anglophilia” that, far from strengthening national identity, could drag Chile towards a history of submission and complicity with a colonialism that militarizes the South Atlantic.
