The production, created entirely in Merlo, tells the story of eight war veterans from that town who, 42 years after the armed conflict between Argentina and Great Britain, return to the Malvina Islands . Through moving testimonies, original animations, and a carefully crafted cinematic aesthetic, the film offers a profound look at memory, pain, and national identity.
Director Daniel Ponce emphasized that the project was born from a commitment to keep the collective memory alive and pay tribute to the ex-combatants: “We wanted to tell their story with respect, emotion and truth, because each one of them represents a part of our history as a people,” he expressed after receiving the recognition in the United States.
From Merlo, Mayor Gustavo Menéndez celebrated the documentary's international achievement and emphasized its symbolic value: “This award represents the living memory of our Malvinas heroes, the love of their families, and the strength of a people who never forget. It is a source of pride for all the residents of Merlo and for all of Argentina,” he stated.

The initiative had the support of the local government, which accompanied the veterans on their return to the islands. In this regard, Menéndez emphasized that “behind this recognition was a profound political decision to stand with our heroes,” and concluded: “The Malvinas live on, and their legacy beats in every Argentine heart.”
