The coast guard GC-24 Mantilla of the Argentine Naval Prefecture arrived at the port of Ushuaia to carry out logistical supply, before continuing tomorrow with the patrol and control campaign of the Argentine Exclusive Economic Zone.
The Mantilla, which set sail from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires on May 10, was received at the local station through a welcome ceremony by the Institution's staff.
The Mantilla Coast Guard Cutter is a Halcón-class maritime patrol vessel. Its function is to patrol the Argentine Exclusive Economic Zone and it owes its name to Manuel Florencio Mantilla, creator of the Prefecture law; It is 67 meters long, 10.5 meters wide and 4.2 meters deep.
The ship, whose captain is the main prefect Oscar Ariel Rizzi, will remain in the port of Ushuaia until the early hours of Monday, May 20 , and then continue its patrol tasks in the Argentine Exclusive Economic Zone.
